The black & white hexagon soccer ball design has become an unofficial symbol of the game since its introduction in 1970, replicated literally hundreds of times by various ball manufacturers around the world. This particular ball has a superb patina which suggests it was well used in either training or games or both.

The image on this enamel mug shows a club ball, (formerly belonging to the A.B.B.C.). Its discolouration and markings would suggest extensive use and note also the ‘F’ stamped onto the ball.
